My Lifestyle Decision.
You might not think it from looking at me now... but back in the day, I could party up one hell of a storm! Like many 20-something year old's, my weekends were fueled by binge drinking, clubbing with friends and Sunday morning hangover trips to McDonald's. The toxicity of my lifestyle choices eventually took its toll on my body - my waistline expanded, my energy levels plummeted and my self-esteem diminished. My unhappiness about the physical condition of my body, in combination with my desire to feel more confident in a bikini, propelled me to ditch the bad habits and take charge of my lifestyle.
My Big Transition.
Changing my lifestyle habits certainly wasn't without its difficulties! There were many failed attempts and rebounds in the process, as I dabbled my way blindly through radical dieting plans, excessive cardio sessions, detox supplements and other 'quick fixes'. The repeated experience of failing truly dampened my spirits and belittled my inner strength. Despite feeling defeated and confused, I never gave up! I slowly learned that the reason I was not achieving my fitness goals was because I was trying to create long-term solutions using impractical and unsustainable methods. So instead of repeatedly chasing shortcuts, I started educating myself about realistic nutrition and effective training approaches.
My Career Change.
I DID IT!!!! I was consistent and disciplined in my fitness pursuits, and I succeeded in my lifestyle transformation from 'party girl' to 'fit chick'. Not only was my hard work paying off physically, but I was so much stronger mentally. I was bouncing with optimism, free of insecurity and happier in all facets of my life. I developed a real passion for health and fitness in the process and as a result, I left my corporate job to pursue a career as a personal trainer. I enrolled into the Australian Institute of Fitness where I graduated with a Certificate III and IV in Fitness. I started up my business 'Lean Like Lacey' and shortly after, I became part of the Granite coaching team.
My Next Challenge.
I had grown such a deep appreciation for aesthetics throughout my fitness transformation that it only seemed natural to progress to the next stage of my journey – bodybuilding! I wanted to continue challenging myself and pushing the boundaries, so I enlisted the coaching of Andrew Deasy for my competition prep. After 16 weeks of intense training and following a flexible nutrition plan, I stepped on stage for the first time at the 2014 ICN Queensland Titles. Since then, I have competed in several local, interstate and international shows, earned Pro status as an ICN Bikini athlete and more recently transitioned to the IFBB Pro League.
My Life's Mission.
Over the past 6 years, I've made a lot of progress and I've achieved a lot of success in both my professional and personal life - but I had to make a lot of mistakes along the way to gain the knowledge and experience that I possess today. I am deeply committed in sharing what I have learned to save you the time and frustration of "spinning your wheels" and peddling through vicious cycles like I once did!
